Meditation Dance (Qi Gong Fan Dance)
draws on the principles of Qi Gong and dance. The combination of
slow, fluid, mindful movement and proper breathing technique provides a
state of meditation where an effortless energy (Chi or Qi) chanelling
throughout
the body results in a relaxing dance form.
The following are the benefits of Meditation Qi Gong Dance:
Endurance
- the resistance of the body to fatigue, which is dependent on the
heart and lungs, controlled by the medulla oblongata.
Suppleness
- the limberness of the body due to the flexibility of its joints and
the elasticity of the muscles, ligaments, and tendons.
Equilibrium
- the state of body balance and sense of orientation, centered
principally in the semicircular canals, directed through the cerebellum
and spinal cord.
Strength - the muscular force of the
body, controlled by the cerbral cortex.
Speed - the pace of our bodily
movements, controlled by the cerebellum.
Skill
or coordination - the harmonious function of the physical faculties and
the ability of the body to perform movements accurately, controlled by
the cerebellum and spinal cord.
